Micro-needling skin rejuvenation
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation technique designed to improve skin affected by signs of age, discoloration, and many other common conditions. A quick procedure with little to no downtime typically required, Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) with the micro-needling can renew your appearance with beautiful, long-lasting results.
Micro-needling pen device resembles an ordinary pen. The pen is guided over the areas targeted for rejuvenation. This pen utilizes a series of tiny needles to create microscopic channels in the surface layers of the skin – a process known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). This helps the skin to begin repairing itself naturally, stimulating the production of new elastin and collagen, which can lead to smoother, more even-toned skin and a healthier, more youthful appearance.
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) with micro-needling pen can be performed on all skin types. This procedure can improve the appearance of several common aesthetic conditions, including:
Uneven skin tone
The Micro-needling pen procedure can be used on a range of body areas, including the face, neck, décolletage, abdomen, arms, hands, back, and legs. A unique feature of the micro-needling is the system’s ability to be highly customized with settings that can be adjusted to suit your unique needs and expectations.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy for the Face and Neck
When micro-needling pen is combined with a procedure called Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, you can achieve enhanced facial and neck rejuvenation using the power of your own blood cells. PRP first isolates your platelet blood cells before reintroducing them into the target area. The platelet blood cells combined with micro-needling can enhance collagen and elastin stimulation for a more youthful complexion.
Platelet Rich Plasma for Hair Growth
Hair loss is a frequently expressed cosmetic concern among patients. Our society views, a full head of hair has been associated with increased energy, vigor, strength, and youth. If you are experiencing premature hair loss or thinning hair, Dr. Janice James can help reverse this common sign of age with a revolutionary hair restoration technique called Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy.
What is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is an innovative hair restoration procedure that employs your body’s own platelet blood cells. By injecting these cells into the target area, dormant hair follicles can become reactivated, providing you with a fuller head of hair.
How does Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy work?
PRP, a technique that has been successfully used for many years in other cosmetic procedures such as facial rejuvenation, works by isolating the platelet-rich plasma of the blood and reintroducing it to the target site. This technique, which has been used in the past to repair and regenerate cells, can now be used to target and reactivate dormant hair follicles.
What are the benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
PRP is considered a minimally invasive procedure. For patients who are experiencing premature hair loss or thinning hair, PRP can reactive hair follicles that have become inactive. Many patients will see the regrowth of their normal, natural hair pattern as well as notice a thickening of the hair.
What is a typical procedure like?
Dr. James will begin your PRP treatment by extracting a small amount of blood in order to separate and isolate your platelet blood cells. These isolated cells are then prepared to be injected at the target site. The next step of your PRP treatment is a micro-needling procedure, which uses a handheld device called the Eclipse MicroPen™ to further stimulate areas of the scalp that are thinning or balding. To enhance your comfort, lidocaine will be injected into the scalp before the procedure begins.
Who is a candidate for Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
Ideal candidates for PRP will have hair follicles that are dormant and can benefit from reactivation. PRP is designed to simulate healthy but inactive hair follicles, patients with no hair follicles at the target site will not benefit from this treatment. During the consultation process, Dr. James will evaluate your scalp, discuss your needs and expectations, and determine your candidacy for this hair restoration procedure.
How long before I notice my Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy results?
The recovery period for PRP is typically very brief. Some patients may experience a sensation like a mild sunburn in the days immediately following treatment. As your dormant hair follicles react to the plasma injections and begin to function properly again, you can see your normal hair pattern return and gradually have your hair restored. Some of our patients opt to undergo multiple PRP treatment sessions to optimize their results.

Wart, Moles and Skin Tag Removal
What are warts, moles, and skin tags?
Warts: Most commonly is a small, rough growth, typically found on the hands or feet. It will commonly have the appearance of a solid blister. They are caused by a viral infection, are contagious, and spread through broken skin. Warts may reappear after they have been removed.
Moles: Type of skin lesion known as nevi. Moles can be pigmented or flesh-colored, raised up from the skin, or flat on the skin’s surface. Some can produce dark coarse hair. There are factors that can influence a person’s moles such as genetics and UV radiation. It occurs when cells in the skin grow in a cluster instead of spreading out.
Skin Tags: Harmless, benign skin growths that resemble a small flap or soft tissue hanging off the skin by a connecting stalk. They are more common on women especially those with weight gain, and the elderly.
What is the removal process like?
The most common treatment for the removal of these growths is cryotherapy. Cryotherapy creates a blister between the growth or lesion and the epidermal layer – low cold temperatures create ice crystals in the cells that destroy them at a cellular level – after which the growth or lesion turns into a scab and falls off by itself.
How long does treatment take?
Treatment time will vary based on the number of growths or lesions as well as the size of the growth(s).
How often do I need to repeat treatment?
Warts appearing on thinner skin may require additional treatments. Warts appearing on thicker skin can require a dozen or more treatments. They can reoccur after removal and may not be completely gone after the first treatment of cryotherapy. Overall, additional treatments may be necessary for all growths or lesions. It is recommended that patients closely follow post-care instructions provided to them.
What areas can be treated?
The areas that can be treated are: hands, face, neck, underarms, arms, chest, décolleté and sometimes the feet.
Is the treatment painful?
Patients often describe the sensation from cryotherapy as cold, tingly, and sometimes a burning sensation. The treated skin will feel quick sensations like these and then will become numb. For most patients, this treatment is easily tolerable.
Other than the treatment specifications above, there may also be localized pain and redness post treatment. Scabbing at the area of treatment is a common side effect. It is important not to interrupt the scab while it is healing as it is a normal part of the treatment process. Possible blistering is also a potential side effect. A full list of side effects is available during your consultation.
Treatment cost varies from patient to patient based on the volume of growths and/or lesions treated. After consulting with Dr. James, pricing will be explained for the treatment and discounts will be offered to patients seeking treatment on more than one growth or lesion.
LATISSE® for Eyelash Growth
LATISSE®, known medically as bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%, is an FDA prescription treatment to treat a condition known as Hypotrichosis, which is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. Bimatoprost, the main ingredient in the LATISSE® solution, is well known for its ability to boost eyelash growth.
LATISSE® is used daily, as part of your “before bed” regimen to grow longer eyelashes. If used consistently for 16 weeks, LATISSE® will assist in growing longer, darker, fuller lashes. Studies have shown that as early as our 30’s our lashes begin to thin, become lighter, and not grow if in our teens and 20’s. LATISSE® is a possible treatment aid to grow longer lashes.
How long does treatment take?
LATISSE® application is quick and can easily be integrated into your nightly “before bed” regimen. It is important that LATISSE® is applied to a clean face, after makeup has been removed. It is recommended that contact lenses are removed before applying LATISSE®. To receive hints and tips for using LATISSE®, schedule a free consultation with Dr. James. If you have already begun using LATISSE®, feel free to contact a member of our medical staff.
What results can I expect?
Some patients begin to see initial results after approximately 8 weeks of usage. Once you have begun using LATISSE®, in as little as 13-16 weeks, you will see longer, darker, fuller lashes. Results vary from patient to patient in terms of the length, thickness and darkness achieved. LATISSE® usage must be continued in order to maintain result. Clinical studies have shown that patients using LATISSE® have seen the following benefits to their eyelashes:
Fullness of eyelashes: 106% increase
Thickness of eyelashes: 25% increase
Darkness of eyelashes: 18% increase
What does LATISSE® literally do?
LATISSE® will literally encourage hair growth from the hair follicles in two ways: it will first increase the growth phase for lashes, as well as increase the number of eyelash hairs that grow from the eyelids. Since LATISSE® does encourage hair growth from active hair follicles, it is not recommended that LATISSE® is applied to the lower eye lids as hair growth under the eye can occur.
Common side effects
Common side effects include irritation and itching at the site of application. Other side effects include eye irritation and dryness. LATISSE® may cause darkening of the eyelid which may be reversible. Although not reported in clinical studies, LATISSE® use may also cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye which is likely to be permanent. It is not recommended to use LATISSE® on the lower eyelid as any area of the skin that meets LATISSE® may begin to grow hair. If too much LATISSE® has been applied to the upper eyelid, it is recommended that the excess product be blotted off with a tissue. This is by no means a complete list of side effects. A complete list of potential side effects is available during your consultation.
